I just got a Smartwatch, the SW 2 model. I've installed the Smart Connect and the Smartwatch 2 apps on my LG-S720, and they can see and pair with the watch. As soon as they do, however, they want to download the latest software to it, but the only thing that happens is a white bar appears on the watch's screen. I've let it sit nine hours overnight, and nothing changes; no upload to the watch occurs, and all functionality on the watch is unavailable. No error message is ever displayed. Also, the Smartwatch app won't notice if I happen to turn the watch off; it continues trying to load the update to a now unavailable device. If I reboot both the watch and the phone, I have to repair them, at which point the whole process starts over.
When I connect it to the Update Service on my PC, it says I have the latest version, but allows me to reinstall, which always seems fine. This is obviously no help at all and makes me wonder what version of the software the Update Service is trying to install.
What if you reset the SW2?
If the SW2 is reset, the app on the phone doesn't notice and continues trying to send the update. The SW2 searches for the phone, but will not find it until it the pairing process is redone.
Which steps do you follow to reset your SW2?
Power cycling it is the only reset option currently available to me. The watch does not allow me to do a software reset (can't access any menus). All it does it sit trying to connect with the phone, which it won't do unless I choose to pair it again. Once paired, it behaves as previously described.
What if you try this
open SmartConnect on your phone > select the SW2 > unpair and do the same under settings > bluetooth
I do not see an unpair option after selecting the SW2 in Smart Connect. There is an Edit Settings option, which leads to a list of installed and recommended applications, Events, and an SW 2 video. The + symbol on the main Smart Connect page takes me to my phone's Bluetooth settings. Also, the phone sees the SW2 as a ? type device and does not give the option to connect to it when selecting it.
Honestly, I'm wondering if the Bluetooth on the SW2 is working properly (I know it works on the phone because it works with all other BT devices).
Hi, did you ever get this sorted out? I have the same problem & can't find a solution. Thanks, Lee.
