SmartWatch 2 Pedometer?

Hi, I have just got an Xperia Z2 and I'm interested in getting the SmartWatch 2 as well and I have read that with a new update it can be used as a pedometer, is this right?

I know the SmartBand can do the same thing but I wanted something that would act as a watch and have a display and the SW2 does that so if it works as a pedometer then that would be fantastic.

The SmartWatch itself does not have any mechanism to capture your step count. If you want to track your step count, you will still need to get the SmartBand unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of getting the smartband but I have read a few reviews saying it's not very accurate. I think perhaps where I've read that the SmartWatch can be used as a pedometer, what that actually means is that you can get an app that has a step-counter and then read that on the SW. I'm a little worried about having an app continuously running on my phone while I'm out walking for 6 hours as it might run the battery down. From past experience of using apps on my iPod Touch, they always absolutely drained the battery when running in the background.

Anyway, I'll have a look into the smartband a bit more.
