Smart Wireless Headset Pro - TTS

Using a Smart Wireless Headset Pro with an Xperia U phone - with all smart apps installed - the text 2 speech for emauls/sms/events etc is output from the phones speaker rather than through the headphones. Strangely when testing the sample TTS Pico in the phone settings it is output from the headphones. Running Android 4.0.4 and Smart Wireless Headset Pro v 1.1.30

Has anyone had a similar problem or know of a solution?

Many thanks Johan - it would seem a strange design if its intended to work that way - certainly not what I understood when I bought it!
