Hello,
I'm looking to buy the Sony Xperia U but I have a few concerns. If you would kindly answer my questions below that would be great.
Question 1: Should I buy the Xperia U even if it's not getting JB update? Will the apps not work?
Question 2: This is my main concern. Is the keyboard cramped in or is it easy to use for small hands. I have quite small hands and the reason I want to buy a new phone is because my current phone's keyboard is very small. So is the the keyboard big enough for me to use it?
Thank you so much for your help and support in advance and I hope you can answer me clearly.
Will not suggest you directly
but
please go through all the posts here about the issues ...
Although I am using Xperia U, but I don't recommand anyone to buy Xperia U anymore...
I can ignore there is no JB for Xperia U, but even the ICS for Xperia U is buggy.
Sony still didn't fix the Wi-Fi issue even it happened more than 2 month...

By the way, the GPS of Xperia is really slow.
I have one since June last year. I bought it because of the small size (I don't like these 5" bricks) and the good spec.
With Android 4.04 and some twaeks from XDA community it is a really nice phone with good functionallity.
The big disadvantage for this mobile is the lack of RAM. The 512MB is far not enough for multimedia as the system eats a lot of RAM already. So sometimes the phone becomes non-responsive and starting apps like phonebook or messanging takes some seconds. Compared to my girlfriend's Galaxy Nexus it is really slow.
From today's point of view I shall rather have chosen the XPERIA P which has the same basic spec, 4" instead of 3,5" screen and 1GB RAM. It is still quite lightweight and small and shall get Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
A comparable phone is the Samsung S III mini, but I don't like its design and plastic feel.
Can u please elaborate on "some tweaks from XDA community" so that others can be benefitted...?
tks in advnce...
Sure!
Here's are the steps starting from Gingerbread
1. prepare GB with Step1
2. flash Firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54 with Flashtool - uncheck all "wipes"
3. flash 6.1.1.B.1.10 kernel
4. root with Step 2
5. flash 6.1.1.B.54 Kernel - uncheck everything but kernel in flashtool

And probably some I don't remember.
Finally, lsit of other MODs (not tried all): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935138
Besides the lack of RAM the phone is almost perfect with these mods.
So I would suppose the XPERIA P with MODs is perfect 🙂
I really NOT recommened Xperia U.
You may try other than Sony phone like Nexus, for your own good, belive me!
Sony will not supported phones that not major in the market. So you will get the BUGGY firmware all it life cycle
Now I really interesting in OPPO phone. It comes with massive spec, proper price and important thing - they have a minor update every few weeks. How that nice
