Serious call/network drop in 3G mode

Issue: In WCDMA only/preferred mode, call/network drop frequently

Current Android version: 2.3.4

Best solution provided by service centre: Switch manually between 2G(for calls) & 3G(for data)

Customer Care ticket Id: 93172166

WorkOrder No: SE312TR111983

I have been following the case with service centre & customer care since 2 weeks but have been provided a sub-standard solution as mentioned above.

Please do not mark the thread as "Assumed Answered", I ll get back asap.

Scenarios checked:

1. 3G signal receptivity in my area: Confirmed OK by operator

2. Used same SIM in another phone: Works fine on 3G

3. Used another SIM on ray: Same issue with 3G mode

so you had the problem since purchase? did the dropping issue persist even when using the phone outside a building?

Yes, it happens in open spaces also.

Issue has been there since purchase, but after upgrading to ICS & eventual downgrade to current 2.3.4 by service centre made the issue worse.

there are 2 possible reasons

1) poor coverage area

or

2) you need to replace your SIM card

I have checked with two major operators in India, issue is same under either scenario.

Issue is observed irrespective of the area I use the phone, rather I used the same SIM in another handset...works fine

was the other phone an smartphone? still I suggest that you get a new SIM card to narrow down the issues, also go to

settings > about phone > status > what's your signal strength
