Screen protection for Ray

Is it safe to apply screen protection on this phone. I know it sounds stupid, but I have read on the Internet it can damage the screen because it already has mineral glass protection.

Yeah, that would be really interesting to know. Also I heard that XPERIA RAY has factory pre-applied screen protector. I wrote an email to sony ericsson about this asking if it's true. They answered negative. But I can clearly see that there's a screen protector applied to my XPERIA RAY. So many mysteries....

I'm checking on this for you both. My first guess would be the "protection" you see is permanent and NOT removable.

Thank you, Martha. Just for the information, there was an additional screen protector in my XPERIA RAY box. And also for the future, I think it'll be nice if SE will pre-apply screen protectors in the factory. Keep us up to date!

Just to clarify for what we have seen here the handset does come with a preinstalled screen protector like the rest of the Xperia range, however this is a very solid protector that I would not advise removing unless absolutely required. With this said I see no problem with using a secondary one on top and if you wish to be sure of the protection being included on your phone look for a small area about half a millimeter wide around the edge of the screen.

It is difficult to find an aftermarket screen protector as precise as the factory pre-installed one. It might be good advice to take care of the one you have. Does SE outlets sell these screen protectors?

my ray (bought yesterday 31/12/2011 ) already has a Screen protector ON it...

and another one included in the box !? :smileygrin:

I brought my Ray (Sim Free) on 06/01/2012. I emailed them asking about this before buying. Hope it helps anyone thinking of getting one.

I can confirm that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray would come with a preinstalled factory fitted screen protector so you would not need to apply any additional screen protectors to the phone.

The additional screen protectors in the box would depend on the retailer that you get the handset from. Using these aswell as the factory fitted protector may cause issues with the sensitivity of the touch screen on the phone.

I brought from Amazon (Sim Free) and yes it did have a Pre-Installed Screen Protector and an additional one in the box.

What do you mean by "solid"? is that "difficult to be removed"? then yes, it is.

I removed mine (due to many scratch already) and replaced it with a better one.

Facing no problem so far
