I am screen mirroring from my Tablet Z to my new Sony KDL-50R550R 50" LCD TV. I am trying to screen mirror a variety of 720p .mov files using the Movies app or MX Player, which play perfectly on my tablet, but playback on my TV is very choppy and repeatedly freezes for up to a second or so.
My other problem is that I will not upgrade to the latest firmware (Android 4.2) because of the unsatisfactory "phone style" UI (I found it so inferior to the original Sony skinned Android 4.1 version that I downgraded back). So, I don't know how I can upgrade with any improvements to the mirror cast firmware, at least until Sony decides to tweak the 4.2 (4.3?) firmware upgrade to include a UI appropriate for a 10.1" landscape mode tablet.
Thanks.
You can not update to 4.2 and keep the 4.1 UI
as far as mirroring
Screen mirroring
Use Screen mirroring to show the screen of your device on a TV or other large display without using a cable connection. Wi-Fi Direct™ technology creates a wireless connection between the two devices, so you can sit back and enjoy your favourite photos from the comfort of your couch. You can also use this feature to listen to music from your device via the TV's speakers.
Your TV must support screen mirroring based on Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ for the functionality described above to work. If your TV does not support screen mirroring, you need to purchase a wireless display adapter separately.
When using screen mirroring, the image quality may sometimes be negatively impacted if there is interference from other Wi-Fi® networks.
When using screen mirroring, do not cover the Wi-Fi antenna area of your device.
Thanks. I know how to use screen mirroring, and yes, I realize I can't have the 4.1 UI with the 4.2 upgrade - that's why I downgraded back to 4.1.
Intereferenec with other WiFi networks was something I considered, although I've had no real trouble with my Samsung AllShare Cast direct WiFi connection to the TV, using similar technology, I presume.
As for covering the WiFi antennna - that would be where, on the Tablet Z?
