Hi. I have had Z phones in the past (Z1,Z2, Z3, Z3 Compact) and now i have decided to jump in and bought the amazing Z5. My initial thoughts are mixed. After 3 years of Z phones it would seem that Sony had never listened to end-user complaints & suggestions. Things such as:
1. Design
General design have been almost unchanged. Holding on one hand remains slippery & uncomforatble. Bezels top & bottom have remain big, speakers remain small (and weak sounding) despite the said massive bezels.
2. Bootup
Why up until now the bootup animation remains so consistently long dating back from the Z1? Thirty seconds of bootup must be cut to a third. Even the G4 or the S6 boots up a lot quicker.
3. Camera
I'm very aware the camera of the Z5 had an update recently. Still as disappinting as ever. Although the bootup is slightly quicker, the shutter speed and processing of photo remain disgracefullly slow compared to other flagships. The photos still has that cool tinge to it and some overexposure at nights/low-lights because of either poor software implementation or the fact that the single LED flash remain virtually unchanged for years.
4. Support
Tried to email my concerns to Sony Mobile several times in the past but for some reason i could not. Have rung Sony Customer Support and the person i usually speak either comes from a different planet and (is told or personally) doesn't know what i'm talking about (read: from reviews on knwon stes) or they just flatly say that they are unaware of these issues.
Saying that the general UI is smooth, support for hi-res audio, the build quality & wtaerproofing and the fast fingerprint scanner.
But the root of the problem is to be aware of the problems and to try and do something about it. I have said this many times and yet Sony choose to do incremental upgrades and not the necessary ones.
Any thoughts & advice please?
I stull think there are features of the Z5 that standout from the rest of the Adnroid lot such as support for hi-res audio, streaming PS4 games, the waterproofing and having Android OS itself.
I just think 6 months perioid of product changes isn't realsitic. And as i said many more issues need to be addressed such as the ones i mentioned previously.
I would be surpirsed if Marshamallow brings in signifcant improvements such as with camera speed & quality, speeding up the boot animation and general speed/performance enhancments. I would bet all my money in the bank right now.
I haven't even seen or heard a Stagefright fix.
I hope Sony would bring Marshmelloo to support 4K streaming from youtube, since I read that Marshmelloo will support Native 4K Displays, so theoriticaly there should be no problem viewing 4K streams. And also the new marshmelloo promises a very good optimizations of battery life, hope that's true.
This is NOT a phone limitation or android version limitation, the problem is Youtube and/or other streaming services
