Ripped off from Sony services

I had a z3 compact for over two years and never had any bother with it. Loved this phone as did everything I need it for, until a month ago when I uploaded Sony's software upgrade. That's when the phone frozen on me saying "error software unable update"
Contact Sony explained to them the issue and was informed that it was a software issue and send the phone in and they will carry out software repairs free off charge.
Great and very helpful I thought.
Just received email from their service centre saying that
"The display of your device is damaged. To solve the problem, the display must be replaced." and want to charge me over £100 to repair it!!!!!
How can they justify this and when did this damage happened as I clearly explain to them it has always worked perfectly.
I have since then purchased the Z5 but will be returning it as I'm sure I'll more than likely have issues with it when I use Sony upgrade system, which the phone is already asking me too, then when I send it to be repaired I'm sure Sony will charged an arm and leg to repair it.
Extremely disappointed with their service and will definitely not purchase anymore of their products and will inform anyonee. friends and family to avoid Sony from now on.

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience.

I understand your frustration here, I really do but there is unfortunately not much that I can do on my end. This is a global, user based forum, service and warranty procedures vary on a local level. In this case I can only refer you to contact your Local support team for further information about your device.
