Returning my second Xperia S to orange

ok guys first of all i am not a fan boy of any kind i buy a phone depending on what it does and how well it does it.

Now i chose the Xperia S bacause it ticked all of my boxes, now its coming back to kick me in my teeth.

I got the 1st handset on my upgrade 2/3 weeks ago first handset went back by the second day kept freezing getting really warm and generally very slow all the time. had to wait for orange to receive the phone and for it to be processed before I could re-upgrade which took 4 days.

Now on to the second handset which I thought no way it could be worse the the 1st, how wrong could I be. so after reading up on this forum about Sony recommend doing a system repair once you upgrade to ICS I did that and straight away I had my first problem, 2/5 times if I go to my gmail it will take 10 seconds to load and come up with the message saying the account needs to sync for the 1st time and will take a while (it always was slow at opening on the 1st handset but I never had this problem). The second problem I use my phone as an alarm so at night to save battery and so I do not get disturbed I put it in airplane mode now in the morning when I get up stop alarm try and take it out of airplane mode it gets stuck no signal no wifi nothing I have to restart the phone before I get signal and wifi. for the 3rd problem I will be listening to music and be browsing the web on the way to work (nothing heavy BBC a few forums etc) and the music player will glitch tracks and make a funny sound as if the bit rate messes up now this can be for a second or for 20 seconds but end of the day it's annoying. Now for the best one I have been watching videos in youtube or on android it self and the the phone will become unresponsive the screen will go a slight orange colour then fade away till the screen is completely off all the buttons become unresponsive and i have to do a hard reset to get the phone back to being usable happened to me 4 times.

Now I have a Galaxy S2 on my work contract I don't really like it but it always works the OS never crashes(apps sometimes do) I can leave it on for a week and it doesn't slow down once always fast, no email sync problems, nothing goes wrong.

Now my question is should I even bother going for another replacement Xperia S? or should I just get the Lumia 800/900? because I know that Nokia has fixed all the problems with that handset now and they are both solid.

I love the Xperia S but will these problems ever be fully fixed by Sony because to me it seems to me there answer at the moment is people are having problem with the Xperia S, I know lets release a new series of phones and hope everyone forgets about it or gives up as we don't care if they are stuck in an 18/24 month contract

thanks in advance (sorry if this comes off as a rant do not take it as one just someone who has used many different Smartphones over the years and have never had this many problems and quite frankly its frustrating)

Very unlucky you are. Thinking_Face So many problems with one phone...

I've got full automatic sync of everything including 6 e-mail accounts, traffic, weather, LinkedIn, etc. BT, Wi-Fi, NFC. So forth so on... Games, music, video - almost every day.... Nothing happens to me like what you experienced.

It eats battery like mad... yes. have to recharge every day and if I use it for navigation I have to care about this even more....

A couple of known software bugs - true. But what you have is a disaster.... I can only think that this is Orange specific firmware or any bloat ware they put into Sony software what's causing it.

ok it could be the orange rubbish they put in but if i install the non network rom of ics will this void my warranty with orange and sony? and will i have to root the phone to do so?
