Right!
So I'm now on my 3rd X10 in a year 😕
Having backed up texts and contacts etc with the 2.2 software version I assumed I'd be able to restore everything when the new phone arrived (which had 2.3 already installed)
Sony havn't put a restore app on the 2.3 update (grr) so I'm feeling a bit upset that I havnt got any of my texts which mean alot to me
As far as I know all my stuff is on the sd card but I can't get to it
I've tried the download from 4shared.com and it won't install for some reason
Can anyone help pretty please x
Make sure you backup everything

How to install it
You need to
go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources
download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it
also other ways to backup your phone
Contacts
just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already
SMS/MMS
if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then
Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

or your SMS use
"backup & restore SMS"

or for your MMS use "Save MMS"

your an absoloute angel!
Its just restoring texts at the moment which was the main thing i wanted back
when its completed do the texts appear in my inbox like they normally would or do i ned to look somewhere else for them? x
they will appear on your messaging app as they were before, once you restore them, really look into the first app to backup your SMS/MMS, call log with your Gmail. that way you can delete them all and you can still access them on your phone, computer, tablet on your Gmail it's quite useful
i can delete all what hun? x
if you want to delete all your sms/mms/call log, if you stored a LOT of sms/mms/call logs both apps will get slower and slower; that's why if you sync your mms/sms/call log with gmail you don't have to worry about losing important sms/mms since you can always check them on your computer/phone/tablet by accessing gmail.
ahhh ok i get what you mean, its still restoring my texts now but will have a deleting spree i think! thank you so so much for your help
xx
