re sk17i update to 4.0

hi i bought a sk17i last year sim free meaning open on all networks anyway on the box it says 4.0 upgradable but when i connect it to pc to try upgrade it it says it has the latest version the version on it is 2.3.4 so how do i upgrade to 4.0 ???

The phone is indeed capable of 4.0 BUT your carrier/network did NOT approved/released the update.
