RE: Notification light on the top left is not working on Xperia SL

I have just bought new xperia sl few days ago. The notification light was working fine previously and now it just suddenly not functioning.

Can anyone please please help me?

I really like that and I really hope to solve the problem. The phone is so new but then a problem has occured.

Hi there.

It's possible an application* you've installed altered the notification settings.

First thing to do is a simple Settings reset (no info will be lost or altered)

This will place the phone's basic settings back to normal.

For this go to Settings and then to Backup & Restore. Here tap on Settings Reset and follow the instructions. When this is done check to see if the light is working again.

If you've installed any app that relates to notifications like Text messages apps or multimedia messages apps, please check their settings.

*One way you can tell if the issue is being caused by an app is by checking if the notification light turns on when charging the phone wile is powered off. If it doesn't then it's probably a hardware issue and you will need to call your local Sony Mobile support for arranging a service order.

Hi Francis,

Thanks for taking the trouble to help me in this. I've tried resetting the settings already and still its not working. I have installed the Illumination Bar Notification which I thought might affect that so I uninstalled it and still no effect on the notification light. Will the Advanced Task Killer Apps be related to the malfunction? But I have never downloaded any other apps since when it is still working.

One good thing is that, I tried charging the phone and the notification light turned on! So probably can be solved as it is not hardware problem?

Thank you for replying. Is there any other way other than perform factory reset? Because that way I would have to start all over again with my phone.

I have found out that the notification light is working when charging and when notifications such as gtalk comes on. However it just doesnt work with message notifications. Whenever I receive a message it just does not light up. Please help me in these!

Is there possibility that if there is another new update from sony and i performed the update then it will be solved?

Hi there.

The app you installed is probably the culprit, the thing is that his app was made to make the clear bar act as the Notification light. So I'm sure the app changed your Operating system settings.

On this you will probably have to do the software reset. I know this can be a hassle because of the restore process you need to do after.

Now, in the market you can find many apps that help to do full backups of your contacts/calendar, Apps and settings. This might help you speed up the process of getting the phone back to normal after the reset.

On the reset itself make sure you backup your picture folder (DCIM) to a computer.

So does that mean that this app is not to be downloaded in future as well?

Besides the software reset u meant is it factory reset? Means that all my apps, contacts, documents, pictures and songs will all be gone? Like how the phone originally comes in?

Hey can we change the top left notification light according mail,sms and missed call arrivals..\i mean the color can change accordingly.to respective arrival.
