How have you tested?Did you dial *#*#7378423#*#*-Service tests-Proximity switch? There,if you cover the sensor, you should get ON.

Seems like my proximity sensor is too sensitive. Always registers "on" so screen always stays off during calls. Only way to get the screen to turn on is if I shine a flashlight directly at the sensor... When I phone the sequence noted to test the proximity sensor, it says "on" even if nothing is blocking it... Is there a way to adjust this? It's a pain to wait until the other party hangs up to get my phone to turn on again...

Do you have a screen protector or tempered glass?

No screen protector. Not sure about tempered glass though. Using the phone right out of the box. I think it's a Hong Kong version that I bought unlocked.

By the way, thanks for the phone code. Wrote it down for future reference. That is a cool thing to have!

To remember the code better, just keep in mind that the code means *#*#SERVICE#*#*.About the sensor, you should have the phone examined at a sony service.

Thanks for the heads up! You read my mind. I was trying to figure out a way to remember the number sequence... Will check with Sony. Hopefully they can help, Z2 not available in the USA yet and bought international version with no warranty... Guess I'll carry around a small flashlight in the meantime.

Before getting it looked at it would be worth at least trying a software repair to completely rule out any potential software issue:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps
