Hi,
I'm having issues trying to surf the web from my ipod (3rd gen) which I've tethered to my sony xperia SP by the portable WiFi hotspot facility. The ipod connects to the WiFi signal broadcast from my sony handset, but I'm unable to surf the web, download e-mails, etc. My handset is picking up a very stong 3G+ signal (no issues there). I've just upgraded to this phone from my old samsung. Tethering my ipod to my old samsung (apollo i5801) and surfing the web presented no issues. My service provider is orange. Does anyone have any ideas please.
Thanks,
It sounds like you may have WAP settings on your phone and not Internet settings. Please contact your current network provider and have them send you through the relevant internet settings.

Thanks Sam,
What exactly are the differences between WAP settings and internet settings, and why would WAP settings allow me to surf the internet from the Sony Xperia directly, but not from an Ipad or Ipod that is tethered to the Xperia using the portable WiFi option?
Basically WAP settings are the internet settings you would use on a non smart phone. They are essentially a limited version of internet settings so some basic internet functions would operate but function such a tethering or a number of secure browsing features would not work.
