Same happens with me on my Xperia C4 Dual. Restarting the phone works, though it is extremely cumbersome in the middle of an important call. Sony should feel ashamed of what they are delivering.

Your issue its different, based on what you've posted seems to be a faulty SIM card or perhaps you trimmed a SIM card to make it fit?

Hi @astinafrank

Welcome to the community.

I would suggest checking to see if these issues are coming from the hardware of the handset.  We have a build in feature called Xperia Diagnostics to help with this.

  • Go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics.
  • Tap Test device.
  • Select the tests for the microphone
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Could you let us know what the results of that are?

Hi @uliwooly
Yes. I did trim the sim card to fit into the slot. I'll look for a replacement sim, but that may take some time. Meanwhile, let me share with you the other problems I am facing. I have a feeling that you might have a solution!

My set (just about two months old) was overheating from day 1. Battery was another issue, but I assumed that the unduly fast drainage was related to overheating only. I went through a software repair, as advised by customer care. Overheating stopped perceptibly. But the battery issue somewhat remained. I found that it was getting charged, and discharged non-linearly, a 100% battery went down to 90% in a few minutes, right before my eyes. However, I would say that this has somewhat improved now, maybe after scores of charging -discharging cycles.

The phone is quite slow. It takes some time to find a name on the contacts list, and direct dial shortcuts often do not work at the first tap. Also, as I have already said in my earlier post, when I receive a call, sometimes the caller cannot hear me, though I can hear him well. Restarting the phone has solved this problem so far.

Another alarming event. Once I found my phone going off on its own. I don't know whether it had shut itself down, I could just see that the screen was completely black. The set was left with reasonable amount of juice at that moment, the charge was about 80%! I had to struggle very hard to reboot it. The power switch seemed not to work at all. After many pushes-- long, short, momentary-- the phone came alive.

It is getting exceedingly difficult to bear with this phone anymore. Please tell me is it all due to the trimmed sim, or I have to throw the phone away to regain my mental peace?

I don't understand, did you get new SIM cards (correct size)?
