Problems moving photographs.

I found I got corrupted photographs with a perfectly good and very fast SD card, so reverted back to the internal memory thinking I can use the function in the phone that copies date to the SD card.

I have found a couple of problems, simplest is the naming issue, once the photos are moved the phone restarts numbering at DSC00001, which is a pain when you are importing them to a PC and have to work out if it is a dup or a reused name.

More concerning is the number of corrupted images I ended up with, you just get the broken mountain icon and media not found error message.

However since I backup the photos on my phone to onedrive and google+ I was able to recover the corrupted images, so I think the image is ok in the internal memory, and thus backed up intact, but the move process corrupts the image in transit.

I have tested the SD card in my HP laptop and it is fine, it must just be somethign to do with how the Z3C drives it.

My solution is to manually move the photos, leaving the last one there to keep the file numbers incrementing prperly.

This seems to be an SD card issue here, perhaps its corrupted.

I have the same issue. And it's not only with pictures but with all media files. I found in a forum that this is a kitkat issue and if you root your phone you can change some permisions. Then everything works.

What are the downside of rooting the phone, I think it takes out the warranty and low light camera modes, but does it behave differently?

Worst case, root it, find it is the phone not handling cards properly an dno warrantly.

On mine downloading HERE maps today it corrupted the SDCard.

Does teh phone only work with slow cards?

it'll be wise to reformat the SD card.
