Hi there,
I'm facing issues with my sony z5.. the phone works fine with silent mode..
However, if i were to turn on "allow exceptions for calls only"... the phone would literally be back to normal mode and not silenced anymore
It shouldn't be working this way right?
It should still silence all other applications (i.e. messages, whatsapp etc.) except for phone calls isn't it?
Can someone help with out with this?
Appreciate it
Hi alexdon..
I've read the thread and I do know how to turn on the silent mode , vibration mode and access via the volumedown button and pressing the bell icon etc..
But the problem is... while i am already in silent mode.. and i switch on
"Allow Exception"
and
"Exceptions to Calls only"....
it doesn't work as it is..why does it allow messages + whatsapp + line + etc etc to be back in normal mode and rings?
its supposed to only allow exception to calls only isn't it?
I've tried switching silent mode off then on again while exceptions is allowed but to no avail..
is this a bug or operating software/hardware fault with my phone?
Thanks alexdon but are there any other alternatives or advise?

I had a issue with the silent mode and exceptions options, but after the last update, it works as it should.
It's handy to know about tapping the bell icon at the top left of the screen.
i see.. my phone is currently on 5.1.1 build number 32.0.A.6.152... is it the same as yours?
or theres another update available? tried to update but it says its the latest...

My phone is the same build and update version as yours and I believe this is the very latest update
No doubt there will be another update, as some users are still having issues.
Funny this came up again, as I only fully tested this again on my phone late last night and it worked fine, with only my chosen starred contacts being able to contact me always when my settings are set to not let anyone else contact me between midnight and 7am.
I tried out the method of only allowing exceptions to favourite contacts.. but to no avail as well..
Sigh.. wonder if any support staff is around to advise?
Sorry to hear that.
I've been testing this here on the same firmware but for me it works as expected so not sure what could cause this.
Do you see the star icon at the top of the display when this happens? Do you get sound/vibration alert for all notifications or only for some? If you make an expection for calls you will also get sound/vibration if someone calls you in for example Hangouts.

Hi Rickard,
Yes i do see a star icon at the top when i activate exception mode
As for sound alerts, i do get them for all notifications whenever exception mode is on.. eg whatsapp, LINE, normal sms/messaging as well as screen unlocking sound..
