Hi,
My Google Navigation has become useless because it constantly freezes, sometimes for a couple of minutes. Many times the phone just crashes and reboots after a while.
I'm not sure since when it is happenning, I think it was since the ICS upgrade, but I may be wrong.
Another thing I noticed is when I try to update apps, using Google play, most of the time I get an error: 'Insufficient storage available', however, according to the information on settings->apps I have 120 mb free.
I moved some Apps to the SD card and for some time I could update without problem, then the error message returned.
I think that although the phone says I have 120 mb free, maybe I have far less and that may be hanging and crashing Google Navigation and giving the 'Insufficient storage available' message.
Maybe there is a large file or lots of files that are not beeing taken into account, I don't know.
Any suggestions or solutions to the problem are welcome.
Regards.
run a repair software via
SEUS http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe
back up all your data and do a master reset and format your memory card and then it might work well
I installed the software on my computer, but I think I will only repair the phone as a last resort.
It is otherwise running fine, and I don't want to lose or mess up anything.
What does a 'master reset' do?
Will it keep the ICS upgrade?
Will it keep my operator software? (Vodafone Portugal)
Will it format the phone? only the phone or the SD card as well?
Thanks.
try clearing the apps data , settings>applications>manage apps. look for the apps and tap on clear data.
i assume you are talking about factory data reset?
1.) yes
2.) yes
3.)yes , SD optional
Hi nolramlb,
I cleared the apps data.
As soon as I use Google Navigation again, I'll report back.
Thanks.
alright, hope it works, also try rebooting your phone.
Guess what?
Clearing the app data worked like a charm. I have my Google Navigation back.
The obvious conclusion is that the app was malfunctioning due to lack of space.
freeing up some space solved the problem.
HOWEVER......
As I use my apps the data files will be recreated and that makes highly probable that the problem returns.
So to solve the problem permanently I should find the files that are taking up space. Space that is shown as free in settings->storage.
Probably leftovers from the Gingerbread to ICS upgrade.
Any ideas are welcomed
Brilliant.!
yes, that is a possibility, but till then, let's see if it works on the long run,
if you have selected the restore factory + update option when upgrading, I doubt there would gingerbread crumbs left :smileysilly:..
When I upgraded to ICS I didn't make any kind of restore or clean up.
Isn't there any android genius out there that can shed some light on this subject?
I could use the help.
I mean other genius other than you nolramlb, of course
Thanks
i am no genius myself,
there are actually 2 options when you upgrade,
