Wow, this is a really interesting topic to read because I was just thinking about getting an 8GB Micro SDHC or even an 16GB for my X10 mini pro.
So since I saw this topic I decided to swap first the 8GB that came with my Xperia X10 phone and insert it on my x10 mini pro. Guest what? It works like a charm and with no issues what so ever! My x10 mini pro recognized the card inmmediately. So I have no issues with the phone hardware or software, I was able to take pics, vids, and move files around, extracted contacts, etc.... It also did not restarted the phone
Now, if I buy a new 8GB Micro SDHC and format it to replace the 2GB that came with my x10 mini pro, it should work as well, right?
Maybe there are issues with other memory cards except for the ones that are provided by SE. I looked at the card that came with the phone and I can't tell who manufacture it.
Can anyone from SE tell me which manufacturer do you guys use and maybe provide the step by step procedure of formating the card properly so that it work with my x10 mini pro and that way avoid buying several other SD cards?
Thanks!

For info only.
My X10 mini is working fine with a 8 GB micro SD Card (came with the phone) and it is still running Android 1.6 (just say that I don't really bother to do it). Therefore, I don't think there should be any issue using a SD Card greater than 2 GB. If only my X10 came with a 16 GB SD Card (8 GB too), I can then try it on my X10 mini to confirm/prove it.
Anyway, I have this feeling that it is better to format the SD Card using the phone. Goto Settings>SD card & phone storage, you will find the 'Format SD Card' option there.
A little update.
I'm aware of this, and I've also forward it to concerned team for investigation.
I will get back to you as soon as I have any answer to this.
have the same problem
x10-mini pro, with android 2.1
MicroSD-HC (SDHC) Kingston 8GB Class 4,
phone freezes, hangs, everything bad!
needs no engineering or intelligence, the problem is simple
SONY ERICSSON, its hardware only accepts CLASS 2, ie low-speed recording, NEVER ACCEPT CLASS 4 OR ABOVE
CORRECT THIS! Messing YOUR IMAGE!
I am having the exact same issue. I have had the phone for less than a week and I didn't expect that I would be writing on a Support forum so soon :S I'm using a 4GB Kingston micro SD card and from the moment I inserted it, it hasn't worked not even once. Camera cannot write into it and at some point it even freezes the phone. I have tried formatting the card, updating the software... I even repaired the OS with the latest version and nothing has worked so far! Is this already identified as Hardware or Software issue?
Memory cards are divided into classes
can search, people who report that everything works perfectly, they have SDHC class 2 or class 6 or class 10
http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/sdhc
SDHC class 4 will never work, in x10 mini pro, x10 mini, x8
classes on memory cards differ only in speed reading and writing
when you insert the card into the phone, he begins to write data, the rate is confusing so it freezes and crashes.
HARDWARE PROBLEM! JUST THIS!
if sonyericsson not scratch, I'll annoy the world!
I'm Brazilian! never give up! lol
Thanks! I'll try with a different card class then...
