Problem installing Media Go 2.1

I have just installed (and also re-installed) PC Companion.

I want to transfer photographs from my phone to my PC so I have tried to install Media Go 2.1.

The window pops up, saying "Unpacking the Media Go Installer" - the progress bar at the bottom gets to the end, and then nothing happens.

I have seen that other people have posted with Media Go problems, but they seem to have error messages coming up, or issues relating to Playststion Store - mine doesn't even get that far, nNo error message, no further progress, nothing,

It also means that PC Companion hangs and I can do nothing else with it, and have to shut it down using Windows Task Manager.

I have uninstalled PC Companion and re-installed it, more than once, the most recent time I downloaded it from http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

but I still have the same problem.

I am running a desktop PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2. Everything is up to date as far as I am aware.

Does anyone have any ideas that might help?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Media Go has to many bugs, the best thing to do is to just copy paste them or use windows live photo gallery or picasa, it'll be a lot smother and faster

Boot PC in safe mode with networking on ( press F8 at startup > safe mode+ networking)

or turn off antivirus and firewall Slightly_smiling_Face and even allow full access to PC companion

I tried in Safe Mode - got past the "Unpacking Media Go Installer" to the next stage which was something to do with Playstation. I'm sorry but I forget the actual wording of that one, it was at that point that it said "Windows Installer has stopped working". Turning off the firewall gave exactly the same results - I have not yet tried turning off the AntiVirus, something I am a little reluctant to do...

Have you attempted to download a new installation file of the application.

I've tried to run Media Go both from PC Companion, and also by downloading it separately, I've had the same problem both ways.

The computer is a few years old now, hence why it is running Vista, but I did recently do a complete format and reinstall of Windows.

I have exactly the same problem and have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. If there is a successful solution I'd be grateful if someine could let me know.
