My phones glass on the back broke when I dropped it from 2cm at work onto my workdesk.
This is a clear production fault and I have read several accounts of this happening both in here and in other comments.
I think it's sensible to gather it all in a joint thread in order to make Sony acknowledge it.
Please add your voice if it happened to you.
This probably won't be covered by warranty unless someone admits to it within Sony.
On a sidenote I would like to know from someone at Sony if the broken glass on the back makes the phone not water resistant.
I do not have any special access, you have to contact them yourselves.
Thanks Alexdon for responding, I have already send message to Rickard.
As expected didn't got any response from him.
Also I noticed that on same thread other people have replied with objection on Rickard's claims and he have not reverted back.
So what I can conclude from this is - Rickard don't have correct information regarding the type/class of glass used in Xperia Z3.
And his words can't be treated as official word from SONY.
So keep guessing....
My Z3c cracked overnight. It is actually in the process of cracking as I type this. I litterly can see new cracks forming.

Hi MathiasH
Sorry to hear about your loss, please get it touch with service center and let us know, how much they are asking for repairing back glass. "It will be long struggle" so all the best, and keep posting.
Cheers!!!

No dropping no in pocket incident it just popped in my hand as I was using it.and continued to crack or should I say shatter ....never seen anything like it....from what I have seen sony have fitted normal glass to the back of this phone...in uk they want my to post the phone to see if it's covered by warranty ...but if it's not and I refuse to pay I have to pay them 25 pound to send it back!!!!!!
This is what I was told too, and I find it just ridiculous. Sending the phone back and forth at my own expense, to maybe have it fixed under warranty -- or maybe not. And didn't even get any answer when I asked for an estimate for how much it would be if it's not covered by warranty, just that they would let me know after I have sent the phone in!
Appalling customer service if you ask me.
Bonjour
After one month it's my turn.
Without any reason the back glass of my Z3 compacte is broken.
He cracked without any falling or dropping or just anything "violent", crack started near the light sensor in the upper left corner .
I am in France does somebody know wher I can ask for repearing it and if the replacement is covered by the waranty ??
Thank you
My phone broke overnight a few days ago and I sent it in to Xperia support (see previous post). Yesterday I got a 100 euro quote from Xperia support saying that I cause the crack. Called support just now and Sony will not take responsibility.
This is crazy. What is Sony doing? Take care of your customers! I am a long time iphone user that switched to Sony because of this phone. It was sold to me as a waterproof and more durable phone than the iphone. Turns out my porcelain teapot is more durable than this piece of junk. Now I will not recomment this phone to anyone..
And it would be so easy for sony to fix this problem.. The phone itself is great, just fix the glass issue.
