please help: rooting, usb driver, google sdk

Under your "Unlock the boot loader" heading and the Android sdk:

Using the sdk v23, under the Android SDK > extras  there is No google directory. So where does the android_winusb.inf go.

Therefore my Z1 in debugger mode is not recognised by the fastboot.

I would grateful for any help.

You do not need to unlock your bootloader in order to root - If that is the reason for unlocking your bootloader

Are there any known steps for  successfully rooting a Z1.

The problem with the usb driver in debugger mode  still remains

Hi,

Your best bet is to follow this -

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/stock-update-to-14-4-0-108-t2802266

I have and I successfully rooted my z1.

Alan

Hi Alan,

Thank you for the reply.

I have 14.2.A.1.136 build and I finally managed to see phone in the debugger mode when I accessed it from inside a windows 7 VM. But the FlashTools DID NOT mange to update with 14.4.A.0.108

Why are you using a VM?  That will cause lots of problems in communicating with your z1... I run Windows 8.1 and have zero problems...
