Phone will not stop connecting to wireless

My M2 will not stop connecting to Office/Home wireless connection, seems to have happened after recent update.

All power saving options are activated.

How can I find out which app is making this happen, I assume that is what is happening.

Battery life is being badly affected

if you place it on airplane mode,.will it stop the connection? try to restart your device after turning off wifi

Even in airplane mode it connects, I can see the airplane icon so know that is working, or the icon is !

Will try a restart if it stays unconnected long enough, grrr

Restarting when wireless off was a partial success, seems when phone 'wakes up' though it connects to wireless again

Noticed that when wireless was on and I switched over to airplane, the connection went down for a while but then connected again

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop
1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu 
3. press and hold "power off" 
4. Boot on safe mode should become available

No in safe mode wireless only connect when I tell it to, which is what I prefer.

What does this say about the situation, and how do I get out of safe mode, just restart ?

I note my installed apps are not there in safe mode, so do I take it that one of those is making the phone connect to wireless ?

So, by process of elimantion, I can find the cuplrit and decide if the good outweighs the bad ?
