Phone Has an Audio Problem After the Jellybean Update

About 4 months ago, I was looking around for a replacement for my second phone and saw the Sony Xperia J. There were some nice reviews on the internet and I especially liked the walkman option.

 

My friends warned me against going in for a Sony, but having enjoyed other Sony products, I decided to not take their advice and go ahead with this phone. I bought the phone in December 2012. In the end of March 2013, I got a message on the phone to upgrade to Android 4. I did that. After the phone started, I found that I was not able to hear from the handset speaker. I either had to use the speaker phone or the handsfree set.

I took it down to your service centre on the 30 of March 2013. They first refused to believe me. With a lot of effort, I was able to convince them to load the earlier OS. When this was done, the handset speaker started working. They then went on to load the new OS -Android 4 after which the handset speaker stopped working again. They kept the phone to investigate it. A few days later when I went to pick it up, I found that while the handset speaker was working, the speaker phone and the handsfree through the headphone jack was not working.

Later, I was shocked to find that the original Job No of W113033001962 was closed for "Technical Reasons" and a new Job No of W113040500421 was opened. The Sony Service Centre does not have a working telephone number and so there is no way that you can speak to them. The call centre keeps telling me that the case has been escallated but cannot be resolved as you do not have spare parts now. Its now been 15 days since I gave in the phone. And there appears to be no sign of any progress on getting the phone back.

It is distressing to see a phone from Sony gives problems in 4 months. And what is more distressing is to see the lack of professionalism at your service centre. This was really not expected from Sony. Why cant you just give me a new phone like some of the other phone companies do?

Could you give me the email address of Mr. Kunimasa Suzuki, as I would like him to know what is happening in the company that he heads?

I guess, my friends were right. Sony may be good in a number of products, but phones are just not your cup of tea.

Happy to say that this has now been solved.

I am now back to enjoying the music and the phone.
