Phone Hangs regularly.. Error Msg - "Xperia homescreen not responding"

My phone freezes most of the time, even when the phone is not used. It will not start and then I will have to open the back cover and then use a pin to restart the phone. I do not understand why this is happening. I have tried to reinstall the phone software via the official sony pc companion but that was of no use. I keep getting a message "Xperia homescreen is not responding,please close or wait". I do not understand if this is an issue with the software or something to do with the hardware. I will appreciate if someone can give me some suggestion or advise on how to get this sorted.

As you've tried repairing the software already I'd say it might be hardware related. You should send in the phone to a service center for repair. Contact your local Xperia Support for more information:
