Pc freeze at SEMC Flash Device found on Xperia Z

am trying to upgrade my Xperia Z to android 4.2.2. While having the PCC on to latest version, and connect the mobile , software will identify it with no issues.

I have been connecting both with MTP and MSC modes.

The update starts, downloads from internet and prepares the laptop with no issue. When the sequence gives commnad to mobile to shutdown and start for the update then, I can hear the sound of reconnection, the led is green, on pc it find a new hardware (SEMC flash) and then freezes.

I have tried with USB debug active and not with no difference.

I tried the Update service also and anytime I connect (press and hold Volume down key and then plug) freezes always.

I removed antivirus on PC with no result.

On pc when connected I can see on the device manager that the usb drivers are Microsoft ones.

I am running on WinXP service pack 2

Sounds like there might be some program in your PC that interferes with PCC/SUS or the COM ports that the phone uses.

Do you have any other sync/phone software installed on your PC?

You can also try with another USB cable if you have that possibility. Otherwise I suggest that you try with another PC.

I have never seen such a generic and lame reply. I too face the same issue. The phone turns off while updatings software and I receive an SEMC flash installation notification and system freezes. I tried using more than 2 cables. So, I am confident it has to nothing to do with cable. Also, the update works fine with laptop with Windows 7 and above machine.

I believe sony should provide with some concrete solution for the issue. The PC companion software is too confusing and not competent enough to handle updates. One should learn from NOKIA when it comes to PC Suites for mobile. They provide exactly what a consumer would like to use.

Supposedly I have more than one pc suite software on my machine than what is solution. How to find which other program is interfering with update.
