PC freeze at SEMC Flash device found , during upgrade of android

I am trying to upgrade my Neo V to ICS android (4.0.2.a.0.62). While having the PCC on to latest version, and connect the mobile , software will identify it with no issues.

I have been connecting both with MTP and MSC modes.

The update starts, downloads from internet and prepares the laptop with no issue. When the sequence gives commnad to mobile to shutdown and start for the update then, I can hear the sound of reconnection, the led is green, on pc it find a new hardware (SEMC flash) and then freezes.

I have tried with USB debug active and not with no difference.

I have tried with Unknow sources(under application) active and not with no difference.

I tried the same in windows safe mode with the same result.

I tried the Update service also and anytime I connect (press and hold menu or back key and then plug) freezes always.

I removed any antivirus on mobile with no result.

On pc when connected I can see on the device manager that the usb drivers are Microsoft ones. I have downloaded the Android SDK tools (including usb drivers) but as long as the process stucks on the Found new hardware, I cannot proceed further.

I am running on WinXP Pro.

Any suggestions?

Hi guys I know how to fix your problem. I've been fighting with the same problem as you have so do as I wrote and don't skip anything, should work 100%

Here is solution :

1. Turn on your phone

2. Install flashtool and then go to \flashtool\drivers   .... and instal  flashtool-drivers.exe

when installing flashtool drivers from above directory select your phone model or model family and from the bottom of list tick fastboot drivers and flashmode drivers.

3. When installation will be complete connect your phone > see point 1

4. Wait until windows finish install device and drivers, unplug your phone and switch off

5. Reboot windows and go to safe mode ( F8 if you're using XP )

6. On safe mode connect your phone with pressed back button ( same as you flash firmware via      flashtool) wait until windows install all drivers , unplug phone and connect it again but this time keep pressed menu button ( fastboot mode) wait for drivers installation and reboot your windows.

It will help I hope Slightly_smiling_Face      I suggest to uninstall antivirus and firewall.

Hi! I had the same problem with my Xperia P upgrade. It was resolved by installation of semc device drivers. I rebooted PC in safe mode (press F8 while restarting before windows emblem appears). Then connected my switched off cell with sound down tab pressed (just in the same way as instructed by PC companion on the last step of update process). PC identifies new device -Semc-installs it and informs that device is ready to use. Reboot in regular mode and use PCcompanion to update your cell's OS. It worked for me. Though I spent long hours finding out what was wrong. Good luck!
