PC freeze at SEMC Flash device found , during upgrade of android

I am trying to upgrade my Neo V to ICS android (4.0.2.a.0.62). While having the PCC on to latest version, and connect the mobile , software will identify it with no issues.

I have been connecting both with MTP and MSC modes.

The update starts, downloads from internet and prepares the laptop with no issue. When the sequence gives commnad to mobile to shutdown and start for the update then, I can hear the sound of reconnection, the led is green, on pc it find a new hardware (SEMC flash) and then freezes.

I have tried with USB debug active and not with no difference.

I have tried with Unknow sources(under application) active and not with no difference.

I tried the same in windows safe mode with the same result.

I tried the Update service also and anytime I connect (press and hold menu or back key and then plug) freezes always.

I removed any antivirus on mobile with no result.

On pc when connected I can see on the device manager that the usb drivers are Microsoft ones. I have downloaded the Android SDK tools (including usb drivers) but as long as the process stucks on the Found new hardware, I cannot proceed further.

I am running on WinXP Pro.

Any suggestions?

Your PC was frozen because there was a conflict with unknown USB device-->your phone.

(driver problem, not installed properly or something)

Download and install the drivers for your phone here:

http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/sony-ericsson-xperia-pro-xperia-ray-xperia-ray/

You only need to use MTP mode.

You don't need USB debug active.

Unknown sources is for sideloading apk file. (like you download an app's apk file not from Google playstore but want to install it to your phone)

I will need your help on how to substitute current drivers and/or install those new.

When currently I am plugging the phone (phone not switched off), it will not detect any new further device.

In device manager, I can find the following items in relation to phone:

MT11i

Sony Ericsson sa102

USB composite device

on mobile the message for installing the PCC on laptop will pop up, and after saying yes the Sony Ericsson sa102 will dissapear and instead the following will be added.

USB mass storage device.

I tried to update all the above drivers by targeting to the extracted folder I created with the suggested drivers, but only the MT11i would find a similar driver.

Do you know which driver it should be updated or uninstalled, deleted so that the update is done correctly?

It seems that in my laptop the S1 boot driver exists, and created the freezing effect. Can I find and delete so that next time it asks for the installation?

Try to uninstall all the Sony related drivers in your device manager and reboot and reconnect your phone. If still hangs or freezes I think that you will have to check what other possible conflicting programs/drivers that you have installed on the PC or try on another PC.

NOPE..NOTHING YET. the problem at the moment has been still the same. I am trying to find how to elimitane the already existing drivers as mentioned. The simple uninstall through windows/device manager does not help.

I rather doubt it might work, and I am afraid to damage the mobile in case it freeze during any fastboot at the end of the day

Were you able to replicate the same issue using another PC as well?

Hi guys I know how to fix your problem. I've been fighting with the same problem as you have so do as I wrote and don't skip anything, should work 100%

Here is solution :

1. Turn on your phone

2. Install flashtool and then go to \flashtool\drivers   .... and instal  flashtool-drivers.exe

when installing flashtool drivers from above directory select your phone model or model family and from the bottom of list tick fastboot drivers and flashmode drivers.

3. When installation will be complete connect your phone > see point 1

4. Wait until windows finish install device and drivers, unplug your phone and switch off

5. Reboot windows and go to safe mode ( F8 if you're using XP )

6. On safe mode connect your phone with pressed back button ( same as you flash firmware via      flashtool) wait until windows install all drivers , unplug phone and connect it again but this time keep pressed menu button ( fastboot mode) wait for drivers installation and reboot your windows.

It will help I hope Slightly_smiling_Face      I suggest to uninstall antivirus and firewall.
