In the last couple of days PC Companion keeps crashing. It is set to automatically sync my Outlook Calendar and Contacts to Google and then my Xperia Z1 Compact autosyncs to Google - at least that's what has been happening up until a few days ago. Now every time PC Companion starts to sync I get the following error message:
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit and Outlook 2010. PC Companion is set to sync automatically every 30 mins.
I have fully uninstalled PC Companion (using Revo Uninstaller), downloaded the latest version, reinstalled it and still the same error. I have updated Windows and Java - no change. As the error message doesn't tell me what is causing the error and there doesn't appear to be a log file, I cannot find out why this is happening.
As I need the syncing facility for work, I am on the verge of buying gSyncit which appears to work, but am reluctant to buy something when the syncing facility provided by Sony has always worked up until now.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Any suggestions as to what else I can try to remedy it?
I could manage to sync my phone but I had to do it manually: I synced only the contacts, and after having done this, I synced the calendar alone. And it worked. Let's see if the silent sync will be done (I left only the calendar sync active...)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times over the past couple of days. It seems to work for the first sync and then I get the same error message. I think it's connected with Google changing their security settiungs - so hope Sony come up with an updated program.
I redownloaded the installer from the Sony Mobile web site and ran it, it said it was doing a "repair" but when PC Companion started I saw the same crash problem. Do I lose any information if I uninstall PC Companion completely?
Am getting fed up with the complete lack of response from Sony. As so many people are having this problem there is obvioulsy soemthing amiss with their PC Companion software. So I have now decided not to sync with Google at all. I have an iPad and so therefore already sync that with iCloud, my Outlook 2010 already syncs with iCloud using CodeTwo sync for iCloud. I have just installed iSync on my Z1 compact and hey presto, I don't need Google or PC Companion at all! I have google calendar on my phone, but have now set it to only show my iCloud calendar which I know is always synced. It all works brilliantly.
So, Sony, if you can't get your act together and listen to your customers and make sure your software works - then we will simply desert you. Remember, no-one (or no software) is irreplaceable. So long and thanks for all the fish..
I have the same problem for 2 days now....It seems that the problem comes from Google securtiy...
Waiting for a solution from Sony
I saw a post in another thread that suggested it was fixed now, so I loaded PC Companion. There was an update waiting, so I installed that, but I am still getting the same problem of crashing when trying to sync with Google.
Did anyone find how to solve this problem?
Isn't sony gonna say any thing about this?
Please help
It seems the problem is in the reading of contacts.
Pc Companion running on win8.1
It's not only contacts, I do not have contact sync enabled (only calendar) and the crash happens to me too.
It seems like it is something to do with the way it authenticates to Google.
I have the same issue ... for both Calendar and Contacs sync.
I contacted Sony support and they advised me to deinstall/reinstall PC Companion ... which I did and that solution worked for 1 day ! The next day, same issue again.
I contacted them again ... and believe it or not, they advised me to "get a certified Windows Phone if I want to keep synchronizing between Outlook and my phone" !!!!
I really like the Sony products but their support is sooooo bad
There was an update to PC Companion this morning, that I did install ... but no change, sync still crashing
