Opening files on network drive

I have an Iomega 1TB network drive on my home network, loaded with media files.  I want to be able to play the music or video files on my new Xperia Z tablet, just like I can from other PC's and media devices.   I do not want to have to download them, or load them on the tablet using Media Go. I would also like to be able to open, (and possible edit), document files from that shared drive.  How is this done on the Xperia tablet?

Your best option would be using an application from the Playstore such as ES File Explorer. This will work for media files; however documents would be reliant upon what document editing software you have on the Tablet.
