Number in list, no update notification

Hello!

I really want ICS on my phone and luckily my number is in the list, my phone is also free of handy provider branding, because i bought it in a shop without contract.

But sadly i haven't got any update notification to ICS neither in Sony Compagnion nor in the Update app on the SXS.

Greetings

M.H.

Edit: I am from Austria.

If I update my phone following this tutorial and don't root it.

Will i loose warranty?

One thing in general, we all knew our phone will only be upgradeable to ICS, because of the label on the box, the phone got delivered in, but not when. What I find REALLY RIDICULOUS is that Sony announces several dates for the release of ICS, but isn't capable of satisfying them. Why they don't prepare properly (rent extra servers etc..) and release then a realistic date, they could really comply with.

Hi, Madrate,

I did exactly that and it worked fine, but upgrade at your own risk. I read from that blog as well that what you'll be flashing is stock firmware, which means that if you're successful, no one would even know that you flashed it.  Someone from Sony PH confirmed this, if you read the comments on the link you provided.  The steps from that site came from XDA, I believe, and you'll see that there's a note that it does not root your phone or unlock the bootloader.  If you follow the steps carefully, you'll be good to go.

However, please also remember that if during the process you have caused damage to the phone, then it will not be covered by warranty.  I recommend waiting for the OTA update, but if you want to enjoy the experience now, you have the option to flash.  Remember to backup everything before you do.

On the other hand, I disagree with your comment that Sony announced a date and they did not deliver.  First, Sony never specified an exact date, that I am really sure of.  They said that it would be at the latter part of Q2.  We are still in Q2 so I guess they are pretty spot on.  Secondly, they also mentioned that the rollout will begin by then, meaning not all of the phones are gonna get it all at the same time.  I think uli has already provided us the reasonable logic behind this and I agree with him.
