Notification problem

I like to clear all my notifications and its a pet hate of mine to have remaining notifications. i have a notification that wont go away. its a "could not send" (text message) the reason its still there is i deleted the message before ther notification came up and now it wont go and the message its referring to doesnt exist.

help please.

edit: had the notification for two months, thought updating to ICS would fix but did not, i do not wish to factory reset my phone as i have no way to back up data (as i do not own a computer).

You could try to remove the SIM card for a while and the insert it again and check if it still remains. If yes I suggest that you try to clear data for the messaging application. Settings > App's > All > Messaging > Clear data. Note that this will delete all your text messages.
