Not Charging/recognizing it's plugged in

I have a Sony Xperia Z. It is just a few weeks old.

Yesterday, I had it charing with the wall charger. I disconnected it for a couple of minutes to make a call. When I plugged it in again to continue charging - nothing. It did not charge. No LED lights came on or changed. I switched sockets. I disconnected and reconnected a few times, but no dice.

So I plugged the phone into my laptop using the USB port. Still nothing.

The phone is just not recognizing that it's plugged in at all and will not charge. I have never allowed the battery to drain completely. It charged yesterday with no problems up until it's sudden change of heart.

Currently I've got it switched off (the battery is at 6%) and plugged into the wall charger. It's not charging though of course.

I don't know what to do. It's a brand new phone.

Anyone got any insight?

Connect  to wall socket and force restart your device(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).

Alas, I've tried that several times. No change. I've changed plugs, sockets, switched from the wall to the laptop. It's just not working. It's pretty annoying.

Do you have any battery on your phone?

Take it back from where you bought it or visit a sony service:
