No reply box in messaging

Hello Forum Users,

I'm seeing odd behavior in the messaging application from time to time.  I'll sometimes open a conversation, and there will be no textbox in the bottom half of the screen.  If I exit & return to the conversation, the textbox will be present....  And then I'm able to carry on with my reply.

My phone is running the latest version of Sony's software, and I've noticed this behavior with the default keyboard as well as with swiftkey.  Thus far, I've only noticed this problem in the messaging program (and not in Google Voice, Touchdown, etc.).

Any suggestions?

Backup your conversations and then 

settings > apps > all > messaging > clear data > restart your phone > check again

Hello uliwooly,

Thanks for the suggestion.  Do you have any specific suggestions for when your phone is encrypted?  I assumed the backup tools streamed the data through a trusted connection/service; however, it looks like most of these backup tools are trying to directly access the storage device.

It won't work with those apps, you will have to check the play store
