No more bluetooth handsfree since 4.2.2 update on xperia z

Hi,

since the update of 4.2.2 that was released a couple days ago the bluetooth handsfree connection to my bmw does no longer work. Removing the pairing and pairing again (which works) has not fixed the issue. It worked without problems before the update.

What can I do ?

Same problem here. It is currently not possible to select "Phone audio" on any bluetooth headset (Sony Smart Wireless Headset Pro, Sony MDR-1RBT, Jabra Motion, Philips SHB9100).

Re-Pairing does not help. This is very unpractical, since it currenty renders all bluetooth headsets useless.

Hi, for my phone, a stupendously easy solution worked: Turning Bluetooth Off and On again. Although I did re-pair my devices, I did not think of just trying that.

If the solution above doesn't work, try to turn off Wi-Fi in your phone. Wi-Fi can sometimes interfere with the Bluetooth signal.

If the problem still persists I would suggest that you try to reinstall/repair the latest software in your phone using PC Companion:

My Sony Xperia Z (bought directly from Sony and fully unlocked) has worked perfectly with my BMW X5 Bluetooth Hands-free phone system. My phone upgraded to Android 4.2.2 about a week ago and now, although the phone connects to the BMW Hands-free system, it will not show the Contacts list. So to make a phone call it is necessary to get the phone out, access the lock screen, open the Phone app and select a Contact to call. All of which is Illegal in the UK. I phoned the Xperia (not)HelpLine who told me to repair the software - which I did losing all my settings and Apps. They then told me to get BMW to install the latest version of Bluetooth firmware on the car. BMW checked and my car HAS the latest Bluetooth.

Why the **bleep** can't Sony fess-up and admit they've screwed up AND JUST FIX IT. My Xperia Z is now an expensive doorstop as it is unusable in the car. Fortunately I can afford to throw it away and buy something that works as designed (like a Samsung). Never again Sony - you are a disgrace!

I've got the same problem since 4.2.2 update with my bluetooth handsfree kit in car (OPEL Insignia with DVD 800 Navi).

Before the update everything worked fine, now I don't have access to the phone book and the phone call history.

I already was in contact with SONY support but the answer was not helpful. They say they can't guarantee compatibility with any bluetooth kit on the market.

Now we have a flaggship smartphone which got a software update to kill bluetooth communication with almost any handsfree kit of well-known car manufacturers like BMW, Toyota, Opel, Audi etc.!

SONY, please roll back bluetooth system app on XPERIA Z to well working version under Android 4.1 or create a new one which is back compatible to older devices that are not able to work with bluetooth standard 4.0!

am also having similar problem, am using SBH 20 bluetooth from sony.

after new update am getting poor quality sound, it breaks,also sometimes drops, sometimes i needs to switch between bluetooth device & handset ear piece while on a call to make it work. Hope sony to fix this as soon as possible...

Its not acceptable that if we need to use one feature we Need to close other, what if we need to make a video call using wifi and BT ? re installation and repair didn't work, hope Sony needs to fix by new update.

Does anyone know how to sync contacts over Bluetooth now? I used to get asked if I wanted to allow access to my contacts, since update this doesn't happen and contact list is empty in car, makes it impossible to use phone with car. Still fine when I pair my wife's S4 so clearly a Sony cook up.
