My 3G data connection has just stopped working (been to various locations today & none worked). I am on Vodafone & have a sure signal box at home - nothing on this (calls & text work, even 4 bars showing).
Have tried settings reset, but still nothing......
After getting no advice, I have done a factory data reset, then restored my data - still no 3G data. What next ?
Have you tried contacting your network if they are currently having a down time? and if possible try to use another sim, see if works
Can't try another SIM (only have standard SIMs). Vodafone were busy, so I tried repair with PC Companion - it worked. I wonder what broke it ?
most likely was an app, such a taskiller or antivirus
I have never liked 'task killers' & I think 'anti virus' is not needed on Android (your dislike of these just serves to confirm things). The Xperia S comes pre-installed with McAfee - what do you advise ?
Incidentally, after many 'repairs' only to be broken by my 'restore' - I narrowed-down the culprit to my 'text log' (not sure what it's restoring, but my wallpaper changed - so it's obviously more than just my text log).
I would say uninstall it
I had same problem since 2days ago. I have sent enquiry to SE however I haven't received any reply yet.
BUT
I found the solution. Please try following procedure.
1. Uninstall "Task Killer" & "Antivirus" as uliwooly mentioned before.
2. WIFI Connection Off
3. Data Connection On -> 3G WILL NOT be working yet
4. Tap "Browser" -> Once open Browser, it will try to open default homepage (ie. www.sonymobile.com/global-en/) but cannot. It will show error message.
5. Tap or double tap on error message.
6. "Internet & MMS settings" will automatically installed & Finally 3G will be working!!:smileylaugh:
I hope this can help you guys.
