Network Sucks !

Hi,

I have been using Xperia P since a week. The first set I bought was extremely poor in network reception. It was like, out of network coverage in the middle of the city, almost all the time ! And once the screen is locked and left , after some minutes it goes out of network. My phone always got " switched of " everynight and once i unlock the screen at morning, it would take some 20-30 secs to catch the signals again ! that would be like 1 or 2 bars most of the time ! I replaced that set and got other one. this worked well for 2 days and now it is also doing the same !

Im frustrated ! This is , after all, a phone !! A PHONE, and it hardly is connected to the operator network ! I have difficulties making calls( outgoing), forget incomming, it alays says, my mobile is switched of !

Is there any way to this dumb box a PHONE ? Or like many other issues, we have to just hope and pray that , may this get fixed with ICS and may that ICS come before I bang my set with frustration  !!!

Oh yes... We're ignoring, SIMPLY IGNORING, the battery issue here ( hardly 7 hours, with mo anivirus, no auto sync, auto bright with power saver and limited app running, but wifi on for 50 % time )

1st which build number do you have?

2nd charge your phone 100% > use it as you normally do > once the battery drain to 10%

settings > about phone > battery use > take screenshots of the list, graph and also tap on each item, take screenshots and post them here.  remember that wifi does drain a lot of battery, there are apps that will run in the background and download content like fb, google plus, etc

Check your build version, If it is 6.0.B.3.162 then try updating your software using SUS. A new update is available 6.0.B.3.184 and it has no bugs. And also did you baught an original micro sim or you cut your sim to that of a size of micro sim.

Yeah , wifi does, but I close almost all such apps that run on backgroung with task killer. I normally run whattsapp and fb only with wifi. and even if i open sth else, i don't let it keep running ,killing it stops the battery consumption, doesn't it ?

I always kill apps when I'm done with them.

I have updated to latest version 6.0.B.3.184.  Still I am facing network drops.

I read those network mess ups due to build update and I thought it is better not to update untill ICS rolls out !

This phone was doin good initially ! But after using it for 3 days it has started showing the true colors. Even wifi does not work good !

What do you suggest ?

it doesn't matter if you kill the apps, they will be re-open soon after, and this will drain a LOT more battery than letting them run, taskillers are bad idea, they create a LOT of issues and drain battery just like taskillers, battery apps and Ram apps, post the results above.

Even i face the problem with the network reception.I am using TATA DOCOMO 3g and in bangalore most of the places docomo has good network connectivity. i find some times no signal in the middle of the city .and when ever i want to browse it takes some time to load the web page.most of the time it will be showing 3g logo and it takes some time to change it to h(HSPDA). i checked with DOCOMO customer care and they told me that settings are the same and it should work.before buying this handset iwas using samsung ace and i never faced any the above issue.is it the problem with OS or hardware?

My last phone, that I got replaced even had screen flashing issue. After it got that .184 build update screen stopped flashing, but the network !

This has been like a toy to play games, not a phone anymore ! After all, it;s too difficult to make calls !

I have relaince sim, and the network was awesome untill i used the old phone !

I had cut my old sim fot this set !

is there any difference between a minsim converted  to microsim for using in xperia p and if we purchase a new microsim from the service provider?
