My Xperia Ion doesn't register on my PC

I recently purchased a Sony Xperia Ion, and I love it. My only problem I've ran into is that it is not being registered by my pc. I have Win 7 installed on my pc along with the Sony Pc Companion, and Media Go. None of the software is registering that the Xperia is pluged in. the micro sd chip or the phone itself doesn't show up under my computer settings either. The only time there's even a slight recongnition is when a box pops up in the lower right hand corner of my screen reminding me about the PC Companion. It'll then take me to said software and nothing will be connected. What can I do to fix this?

Thank you for your time it's much appreciated.

uninstall  PCC > restart your PC > reinstall PCC and/or SUS > restart your PC > disable your antivirus and/or firewall > run SUS/PCC > try again

I'm having all sort of issues I can't even sign back into the site now under my original user name for some reason. I've tried all my passwords and tried even to reset. Even though I have reset my pw I still can't sign in. I've also followed all of your steps including re-installing the software on my phone, trying different usb ports & cords, as well as the uninstall and re-install of the PCC & turning of of my firewall. However, my phone is still not being registered by my PC except that I keep getting a small notice pop-up the My (null is connected. Launch Sony PC Companion. When I launch PCC nothing shows up that my phone is plugged into my pc. I got to How to connect - I click USB cable - and I wait for it to connect but it stops at that step and says that If PCC does not automatically continue to the next step within 30 seconds, disconnect the phone /tablet and reconnect it. I've done that and nothing still happens. Slightly_frowning_Face

Thank you for all your help so far and I really would like to get this figured out.

@Clevagirl try using your email not your screenname to login

do you have another computer available that you can test?

Okay I've signed into my laptop and i was able to sign in right away which is really odd because I tried my email on my other pc but any way, I'm going to try installing PCC on here and restarting the laptop. Hopefully I wont have an issue signing back in again.

And thank you for being patient with me.

Okay so I installed PCC on my laptop and sure enough my phone is being registered. This works for now, but do you have any ideas to why my pc isn't working with my phone? My PC is not even a year old and has all of the requirments. I'd really like to have my phone connected with my PC since that's what I primarily use.

it might be an antivirus or firewall blocking your PC looking for and/or installing the drivers

I had the same problem (Message: "My (null) is connected") with my Xperia Z a couple days after I got it on my laptop (my only computer) also running Windows 7. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sony PCC, too and it didn't work. After a couple of hours of frustration, I fixed it by reinstalling the driver:

Devices and Printers>Xperia Z (Single click to highlight)>Trobleshoot (button at the top of the open window)

It said the driver was bad and had to be reinstalled. It did everything for me, and I was able to download my pictures and movies. By connecting it for the first time to your laptop, it may have had the same effect. Try the above with your PC.

Hope this helps you reconnect, ClevaG.
