My Xperia Arc can't be connected to the PC via USB

Hi can someone advise me on what to do? I installed the sofware when I first connected my Arc to the PC via USB on Monday and everything was fine. And suddenly the connection cannot be established today. I tried to disconnect and connect to no avil. It seems the Arc cannot be detected by the PC. What should I do?

No respond or error message?

Turn off your computer

Turn off your Arc

Turn it on (both)

Login to windows

Plug your USB cable directly at the back of your computer.  Don't use extender or USB hub.

Attach USB cable to ARC

Computer should install necessary driver

Wait until installation is finished

My phone is connected to my PC as it is charging but the PC doesnt acknowledge it or vice versa. Help, this is very frustrating for what is supposed to be a state of the art phone, HD camera is great but not being able tomove pictures to my PC is ridiculous.

Might be worth reinstalling the device drivers on your PC, they are available from the link

Make sure you are mounting the SD card on the phone too, if it doesn't give you the option when you connect then drag down the notification bar and tap on the USB notification there.

I too also had a problem getting the computer to recognise the Arc via the USB cable when I was trying to use another programme for doing backup etc.....

Maybe the following might solve your problem::

Settings

Applications

Development

Then tick USB debugging.

That solved it for me.

The other thing to check is the connection mode...

Settings

Sony Ericsson

Connectivity

USB connection mode

Then try the two different options to see if it makes any difference

Good luck

go to settings -> sony ericsson ->  connectivity -> USB connection mode -> Mass storage mode (MSC) -> click ok and see if that does it

ok so then its the USB port on your computer and/or the cable, most likely the USB port

Is there a way i can fix it? The ports have worked fine in the past with my previous phone, webcam, external cd drive etc.

when you connect your Arc does the LED light turns on? do you have any other phone that you can connect to the USB port to test it?
