Hello, my fathers Xperia J messaging doesnt seem to be working correctly. He wanted to delete all his messages so pressed the edit button and selected 'delete all messages'. he then went into his contacts and they all had been deleted too. My friend suggested to sign into his google account because apparently they back up everything on your phone. This however was not the case and google and his xperia did both not have his contacts. What could we do to get them all back?
If you had syncing active(you need internet for that),the contacts could have been restored.Did you have sync active?
Probably not
However we have tried to type in new contacts but it hasnt saved them
You could try and use recuva, but I do not think it will work for messages.
HI DrTittleTattle1,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.,
With the information supplied, I can advise that this sounds like the filter on the contacts. Try the following.
Menu > Contacts/Phonebook > Menu Key > Filter
Once in this section, make sure contacts with phone numbers has a tick beside it, if this does and the contacts are not showing, simply look through the list of options available to you and try ticking and unticking to try get the contacts to show.
Let me know how you get on, if you have trouble figuring this out; please contact Sony Mobile directly via phone. Use the link below to find there contact details.

I hope this helps.
