Hi All,
Since upgrading to 4.2.2 My Xperia Z's have caused a lot of problems.
At first the messaging app wouldn't open at all.
i tried handisent and that wouldn't open either.
I then noticed that google play had set it self to auto update and updated a whole heap of apps.
i deleted all non essential apps that didn't work.
i deleted all updates to all apps i could find and after that the messaging app opens but is very slow and unstable crashing a lot.
further more when adding more than 30 recipiants the recipiants list changes to "and 38 more" or whatever the the number is then won't send saying invalid contact!!!
the messaging app also struggles to open conversations sometimes taking 30 sec to a minute
and same if you try and delete a message, if you try and delete a thread/conversation the app crashes sometimes needing the phone to be reset before the messaging app will open again.
SONY please Fix your "Flagship Phone"
I am already starting to feel the egg on my face for buying Sony again.
Regards
Ben
repair your phone with SUS and check again
as for autoupdate thats android standard not sony
open the play store > settings > and uncheck auto update
since nobody else is reporting this issue I would be leaning towards an app you have installed
but as my learned collegue suggests repair but don't install anything until you have fully tested it - or just uninstall all your apps
Hi GeoffH,
I haven't installed anything new in fact i have already uninstalled everything i can (without rooting the phone) that is not essential,
Are there any specific apps you are referring to?
I will try a repair tonight when the phone is not in use, but having to backup everything is not so easy and to restore all sms an contact galleries etc to the way they are atm (all used by the user to run her business) on the xperia arc s was a lengthy process that was only achievable transferring everything to my handset until i have copy of her phone exactly then do a the repair.
Thanks for your help.
