That's odd, mine isn't like that.
My SD/SIM card area ends just to the left of the SD slot on my phone (LT30a). That entire half inch or so where the screw is just doesn't exist (or at least, is not accessable via that area and is under the body casing).
I'm going to have to get mine sent in for service it appears. No known solution is applicable or has worked. Oh well.
