hi all, has anyone got any ideas to get this mediaserver battery drain sorted.
Only had e3 1 month and had enough,
Yesterday 98% battery usage by madserver and phone getting hot. Have removed sd card, closed google updates/services, tried stopping every app. Can only get down to 70% usage.
Should never have this problem with new phone. WHAT ARE SONY DOING TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AS IT SEEMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE.
I had xperia z before with no probs, wish i hadnt bothered with sony again.
are you using spotify or auto updating your apps?
hi, no not using spotify or auto updating. Im trying to switch off everthing i can inc google sync and any google service at mo. it keeps trying to start google play app
Try settings-apps-all-media storage, force stop and clear data. Restart. See how it is.
hi, i did what you said about forcing stop, clearing data and restart. phone was fine for 24 hours with low mediaserver battery usage but
has now gone up to 98% battery usage by mediaserver and getting hot.
Ive had enough of this phone as no one seems to be coming up with a permanent fix. Im spending most of my time trying to stop mediaserver and my battery runs out while at work. The phone is only a month old and shouldnt have these problems. What are sony doing about it?. I appreciate your help, but i should be able to use the phone when needed and not have to worry if i have enough battery and what mediaserver is doing. Thanks
You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
thanks for help, ill give it a try over the weekend. if it doesn't work i think ill be returning it as cant carry on with spending this amount of time over a phone and getting annoyed. when people ask what phone it is i now say dont bother with it as too much trouble.
if i do a software repair on phone will this affect my warranty with vodafone as only a month old, thanks
it won't
