Media not on date after moving files to my SD card

Hello,

Last week my phone storage was almost full so I moved all my pictures and videos to my SD card. That worked out fine and I can still see those pictures and videos on my Sony Xperia Z Compact media. Only problem is, all the pictures and videos got the date that I moved everything to my SD card. So now all my pictures and videos got the date: the 25th of July instead of the date I actually took the pictures... So now my 5000 pictures and videos are all randomly divided into the media and it isn't on date anymore... Can someone help me with this? How can I undo this and get the right date of the pictures and videos back?

Open any picture > tap on the picture > menu > details 

Does it show the correct date?

No, unfortunately it doesnt. When I ask for the details of the pictures or videos it gives the date of the 25th of July

Yeah most of them, also some pictures from whatsapp but these were also on date but now all the pictures are given the date of the 25th of July

transfer the pictures to a computer and check the dates there.

The pictures made with my own phone are given the original, good date of the actual photo on my computer. Only all the whatsapp pictures and videos I received are not specified on date so are still randomly chosen..

Your PC is probably sorting the photos and videos based on the timestamp EXIF tag.

Whatsapp probably strips the EXIF information, so there is no way to retrieve that information.

I also moved my photos and videos from internal storage to SD, but I still see the correct EXIF timestamp.

What app are you using on your phone to watch the photos and videos?
