I'm using a power bank with an output of 2A but the phone should have a max value inferior to that and limit charging rate.
Anybody knows what is the maximum power charge rate for the Xperia S?
Thanks in advance!
Kilion
As I understand when you use our original chargers they will convert the input to the output stated on the charger so I don't believe there should be any problem.
I'm using a 2A Blackberry PlayBook charger and would be interested in this also.
There is an app called charger timer which may be useful which calculates the charger output
There's also a thread about this over at XDA
I am guessing it is 1500mA given thats what the Sony rapid charger pumps out but even then the phone will regulate it according to battery temprature. Looking at the graphs on battery monitor widget when mine was on charge last night it never even got over 800mAh while it was on charge but the night before it was at 850mAh until the battery was full and then it went to trickle charge until i took it off the charger.
I had seen the XDA thread but no one knows the Xperia S charge rate
I notice that with the 2A power bank the phone gets hotter that with supplied charger (and charges faster but I haven't timed it).
Going to check that app...
Exactly, would like to know the value with no guessing.
You should be right that the max charge rate is not achived if battery temperature is high.
As I wrote: "using a power bank with an output of 2A".
OK, I was doing a serie of recharge tests, trying to understand the question.
For that I used the app proposed by 3eb at the post above.
Trying to have equal starting conditions for each test I restarted always the phone before charging.
The battery bank is advertised as having an output of 2A.
1 - Sony suplied charger and cable:
2 - Battery bank with sony cable:
3 - Battery bank with nonbrand cable:
4 - Battery bank with its cable (1st try):
5 - Battery bank with its cable (2nd try):
Notes from this tests...
- cables are as important as chargers
- cables produce different results with different chargers
- 1164mA was the best result, but far from power bank's capability of 2000mA.
All the best,
Kilion
