Massive data use

Hi there, since the last update I have had massive data use. I'm with Telstra and according to the 24/7 app my use is due to my hotspot. In the last 7 days I've used 7.4 Gb. For a normal month I normally use around 2 and maybe 3 Gb at tops. According to the app, it is being used in the Background as opposed to the Foreground. Can someone explain the difference please. Personally I'm not happy with the latest update, my phone runs hotter, my battery life turned into a joke until I installed an app killer and even now battery life is hit and miss. Thanks. Al.

Oh You mentioned Windows... they don't like me much... over there... in Washington State...

Their Answer desks techs hate me, so much so I have my own phone# that I can call.

#1 for W10. Set Wifi to Tethered METERED. That will let you control download of applications.

#2 Right Click Start Button, go to Computer Management, Go to task scheduler
These are OK to disable:

Office Pro 2016 is ~1.2GB

If you're running 10.14393 - the latest cumulative build is about 700mb
The security updates are about 30 mb for flash.
There's another update you'll get pushed and it was the servicing stack -.

Turn off OneDrive.

If you want to get rid of the preinstalled OneNote, because you'll have OneNote2016 - youll need to run this in a PowerShell - the Windows 10 Command Prompt-

C:\> Remove-AppxPackage "INSERT ONE NOTE'S PACKAGE ID THINGY"

If you've opened up the Windows Store - you can disable all the automatic updates there too.

There's heaps of other stuff you can tweak too.

Do the GoPro apps sync? If they do - see if you can limit them to WiFi only.

There's also a few things you can do for the phone - When you go to the same place you took the screenshots, aside from limiting the Mobile data limit, you can individually select an app from the list below.

That will take you to another screen. You can toggle limit background data. You'll actually have to be using the app that you toggled for it to connect to the telco - example: if you limit Email: You'll need to actually be in the email app and hit refresh to sync. You wont get anything.

Also, if you ever run in to any problems with Windows saying it can't get drivers or drivers weren't installed properly for any of the Sony Phones, you'll need to install them through Advanced StartUp options - with Driver Signing disabled. This is a MS thing, and not Sony.

Thanks for that, it was informative. I don't have that lappy with me at the moment but as soon as I'm home I'll be onto it.  Slightly_smiling_Face
