I just replaced my Xperia S with Xperia Z. When I get SMS alerts from my bank, there is no senders number but it usually reports the sender as VM-HDFCBK or something like this. In the Z, I noticed that there is no option to reply to these messages and I think this is correct. But my problem is that if the bank sends me a SMS before I have read their previous message, then even though I have opened the conversation the earlier message does not get marked as read and the unread count reports that there is a message unread till I delete that SMS from the conversation.
I think as soon as the conversation is opened all the messages in the conversation should be made as "read" and not just the last SMS. Also I noticed that this problem occurs only for messages that come from sources like the bank and not for messages from proper mobile numbers(I tried sending multiple messages from my wife's phone).
I hope there is an update soon for this problem.
