Market Application

I have been using this phone for a couple of months on which found that the Market download does not work it seams to hang on download, it is a bit pointless to have if you cannot use as unable to download any apps.

The phone had been reset back to original out of box mode on which still nothing works

There is a bug on the market that seems to be hanging around at the moment, lots of users from all manufacturers are experiencing problems with downloads.

There is a fix that works for some people, go into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and find Market and untick Automatic Updates or uninstall updates.  I personally don't have that option on the phone so it seems to be dependant on your carriers set up.

The other thing that I have been told is to just keep trying and eventually it does go through, but this does seem a little non-specific and hit and miss!!

Yes, there is a definite Google problem associated with the Market - it caused a failed reinstallation that bricked myphone (described in a separate thread).

However, it seems to be limited to older Android releases: after I resuscitated my phone and got the update to 2.1 I have no porblems with the Market. As with most updates, I had to re-install most of my apps - and all downloads happened fast and without glitches. The Market app in 2.1 also looks and feels a little different, obviously updated. It is possible that these updates (especially one on the server) could have caused the problems - but Google are keeping silent. The only acknowledgement I found was a developer tweet which claims the problem only lasted a few hours and was fixed. Apparently it wasn't - if complaints continue.

for the past few weeks i've been having problems with the market, have tried the fixes which only last for a few seconds then its back to "download was unsuccessful". you just have to keep trying to download the updates, after 3,4 goes they eventually download, this is very annoying, when it had worked fine for months.

thanks for your input,i appreciate. but i tried out the possible solution you posted-unistalled market app. i still cant download any apps,i still keep getting the error message- 'download unsuccessful'. please have you got another solution or has anyone found a way out of this dilemma?
