1) transfer them with media go

or

2) change the format > compress them and then transfer them.

I recommend you transfer media to your phone by simple file manager and do not allow the conversion option if offered

DownLoad MX Player from PS as it will play near enough everything and is extremely good - the default video player is limited

remember to put media in the correct folders i.e. movies go to the "video" folder

Depends on how you want to watch your movies. If you only want to watch on your phone and not having to share it on your TV, you have a wide variety of formats available. Like Geoff mentions, download MX Player. It can play almost every format available. Just copy the movies from your computer to your phone via usb. Locations doesn't matter much as long as you know where you copied to.

However, if you want to display the content on your TV, only formats supported by the default player can be use. For that, you will have to use Media GO, so that it can convert the format if necessary.
